In partnership with our client in the industrial sector, we are recruiting a Finance Manager to lead the finance team in Praia, Cabo Verde. The successful candidate will work closely with local teams and with administrative services in Portugal.


The Finance Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing the company’s financial health by ensuring robust financial reporting, compliance, and control frameworks. This role is responsible for driving financial planning and analysis, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making. As a trusted business partner, the Finance Manager will provide financial insight to senior management, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and manage external relationships with tax authorities, auditors, and financial service providers.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business planning, investment decisions, and overall company strategy;
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals;
  • Evaluate financial performance and identify areas for improvement or risk mitigation;
  • Support cross-functional initiatives by delivering financial guidance and risk assessments;
  • Contribute to the development of financial policies and long-term strategic financial planning;
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS and internal policies;
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, including account consolidation and financial reporting to group headquarters;
  • Drive budgeting and budget control processes, ensuring that departmental and project-level expenditures align with financial targets;
  • Monitor key financial metrics, conduct variance analysis, and produce reporting dashboards to support performance management;
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance;
  • Ensure integrity and consistency of financial data across all systems and reporting platforms;
  • Ensure full compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements, including special regimes relevant to the company’s operations;
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors, tax authorities, legal advisors, and outsourced financial service providers;
  • Manage financial risk through strong governance, adherence to regulatory standards, and proactive identification of potential exposures;
  • Maintain effective collaboration with the parent company.


Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree or certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CFA preferred);
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance, including leadership roles in financial reporting, planning, or control;
  • Strong leadership in managing financial planning, forecasting, and budget control;
  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools (Ms. Office, ERP systems such as SAP preferred);
  • Extensive knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS), budgeting, and regulatory frameworks;
  • Ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights;
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
